World Illustrated is a unique proposition – it is a hybrid online multi-media publication, whose content is intended to inform, educate and entertain across a range of channels. It is also a sales and marketing platform for those who supply the content, be they professionals or members of the public.

World Illustrated is visually led. It is an open, online community that allows everyone to share their view of the world. Both professional and amateur photographers, videographers are invited to submit their work, contributing content that provokes thought and discussion, demonstrates artistic expression and ultimately acts as a reminder of the world that we all live in.

In the visual world, thousands of editorial images are submitted to agencies each month without being published. World Illustrated provides a platform for this work to be viewed on a global scale free of charge. Complementing this professionally shot work, are images and videos supplied by the public. All work will be selected on visual merit, which allows an equal chance of publication for all contributors.

World Illustrated is not just focused on developing a strong visual offering, but one that incorporates a range of other media practices; including text and audio. As in the visual world, the outlets for many talented journalists and writers are limited. World Illustrated gives them the chance to reach a wide and educated audience.

The content on World Illustrated will be available for the public and professional industries alike to purchase as editorial stories, individual prints, screensavers and visual clips directly from the site and through the company's content partner, Photoshot. (www.photoshot.com)

Specifically, World Illustrated:
  • Publishes still, video, audio and text features and interviews supplied by professional photographers, videographers, journalists and news agencies from around the world.
  • Invites submissions from the public across all categories in all formats.
  • Offers the content for sale to the public (prints, screensavers, and clips) directly from the site.
  • Encourages site visitors are to interact with content contributors by posting comments online.
  • Licenses content to the professional media via the strategic partnership with Photoshot.

Why submit

There are compelling reasons for submitting work to World Illustrated:
  • For those many thousands of highly skilled and committed professional photo journalists and journalists who find it difficult to get their work published in existing mainstream media, even if it is supplied at no cost, World Illustrated is a viable showcase and platform.
  • For articulate and talented members of the public, there are few publications or platforms that enable them to have a voice or show their work along side the best professional talent. Through its strategic partnership with Photoshot, World Illustrated will have access to a weekly supply of over 20,000 professionally shot images covering an extensive range of live news stories and other events around the world.
  • The content will be offered for sale directly from the site for personal use, and licensed to the media via Photoshot, giving suppliers the chance to benefit financially. All revenue will be split 50%/50% between the content owner and World Illustrated.
  • The copyright of all content remains with the supplier and World Illustrated will only have a non-exclusive right to offer the work for sale either on World Illustrated or via Photoshot. You can see our full Contributor's Submission Agreement here.
Content is submitted online via easy to use forms.
